GENERAL SUMMARY:
Registered Nurse who has acquired advanced knowledge of physiological, psychological and therapeutic components specific to the hospitalized patient. Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and care that meets State Standards, Hospital, ASC and other accrediting agencies requirements/standards. The RN is responsible for directing and guiding patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing. The RN is responsible for acting as a preceptor for new employees on the nursing unit. The RN is responsible for the interpretation of the physicians’ written order and dispensing of medications and intravenous solutions for patients in a manner consistent with Federal and State laws. The RN is responsible for auditing charts and gathering information for the performance improvement programs, which are required by the hospital in order to meet the State Accreditation of Hospitals Standards or the ASC internal PI programs. The RN reports directly to the GI Services Center Director or his/her designee and provides daily assignments and makes rounds with physicians. If the RN Charge Nurse is not available or the position is vacant, the staff RN will assume those responsibilities until a charge nurse is available.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be a graduate of an accredited college and possess a current valid license as a registered nurse in the state of Arkansas. Must be BLS and ACLS certified upon hire or within 6 months of hire. RN is responsible for keeping these current. A minimum of three- year experience is preferred. Knowledge of preoperative and post-operative assessment and management of adult and geriatric patients. The employee must speak English. Must be capable of sitting and standing for long periods of time throughout the workday. Must have the ability to work variable hours. Must meet requirements of staff RN job description. Aids in meeting State accreditation standards.
EDUCATION:
Must be a graduate of an accredited college/nursing program and possess a current valid license as a registered nurse in the State of Arkansas.
